HBG Big News This Week: June 4-8, 2018

Following is a recap of major news at Hachette Book Group for the week of June 4-8, 2018:

Bestsellers: HBG has 14 titles on the New York Times Bestseller list dated June 17, including two #1s—Calypso by David Sedaris (Little, Brown) debuts at #1 on both Print Hardcover (Nonfiction) & Combined Print & Ebook Bestsellers lists. HBG’s distribution clients have eight titles on the list this week, including one #1—Last Week Tonight with John Oliver Presents Day in the Life of Marlon Bundo by Marlon Bundo with Jill Twiss (Chronicle) stays at #1 on the Picture Book list. HBG also has 12 titles on the USA Today bestseller list, see the full list here.

Audie Award: Ann Leckie’s Provenance (read by Adjoa Andoh) won the 2018 Audie Award in the Science Fiction Category. Leckie and Andoh’s excellent audiobook collaboration was previously recognized with an Audie nomination for Ancillary Justice in 2016.

International Book Award: Laura Davis Werezak’s Attend: Forty Soul Stretches Toward God (FaithWords) has won the 2018 International Book Awards for the Christian Inspiration category. The IBAs are sponsored by American Book Fest, and honor excellence in independent and mainstream publishing.

Rick Steves news: To support the philosophy in his latest book, Travel as a Political Act (Avalon), Rick Steves is doing a fundraiser with Bread for the World, an organization committed to ending hunger at home and abroad. Anyone who makes a $50 donation will receive a free copy of the book, and Rick will personally match all donations up to $50,000, for a total goal of $100,000 (he’s also donating his royalties for the book to this worthy organization).

iBooks June Picks: iBooks’ favorites for June include Calypso by David Sedaris and The Perfect Couple by Elin Hilderbrand.
